The design and deformation analysis of foundation pit engineering is the key technology to deep foundation pit construction in soft soil. Based on the design and monitoring practice of a large foundation pit in Nanjing, a reference is provided for selection and design of retaining structure schemes for large foundation pit; meanwhile, the experiences and lessons of design and construction process are summarized with comparising the calculation and monitoring results, thereby, providing guidance for the rapid development and scientific operation of similar projects. ©, 2015, Editorial Office of Modern Tunnelling Technology".
