Sulfur-free gasoline (gasoline which contains 10 or less massppm sulfur) greatly contributes to CO2 reduction from automobiles' emission. In this article, we address key technologies to produce sulfur-free gasoline in the view of catalyst and process. In order to produce sulfur-free gasoline, it is important to reduce the sulfur content of FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking) gasoline since its sulfur concentration is much more than any other gasoline component such as reformate. There are several technologies that realize sulfur-free gasoline productioa For example, Nippon Oil Co. has developed the novel process called 'ROK-Finer'. By explaining the 'ROK-Finer' process and its catalyst, we give you some knowledge about several technologies for producing sulfur-free gasoline.
