Fast partitioning algorithm for HEVC intra coding unit based on gradient structural similarity

摘要
According to the gradient structural similarity (GSSIM) of adjacent image blocks, a fast CU partitioning algorithm of HEVC intra coding was proposed. In the intra prediction, the mean GSSIM of current CU was used to determine whether the current coding unit will be partitioned further to achieve the purpose of trimming quadtree and reducing computational complexity. The results showed that in the case of slight increase of code rate and basically unchanged video quality, the average time of HEVC intra coding is reduced 36.67% to 48.50% by the proposed algorithm. ©, 2015, Editorial Department of Journal of Sichuan University.
