Study on direct electrosynthetic conditions of 2-pyridinecarboxylic acid in plate and frame electrolytic cell

2-Pyridinecarboxylic acid (2-PCA) is prepared from 2-methylpyridine (2-MP) by the direct electrooxidation method in sulfuric acid solution with Ti/PbO2 as anode, and Pb as cathode in the plate and frame electrolytic cell, which is separated by a cation-exchange membrane. Under the preferable reaction conditions as:6% of the 2-MP mass fraction, 25% of H2SO4 mass fraction in anodic solution, charge amount, 0.5 times the theoretical value, 50 mA/cm2 of current density, and a temperature of 50°C, the average yield of 2-PCA can reach 94.19% ,and the average current efficiency,57.29%.
