To realize the microgrid information exchange based on IEC 61850, a hierarchical information architecture for microgrid based on distributed energy resource is presented, the general design and implementation methods including model extraction, model build, model download and model identification for physical device information model are proposed. The microgrid testbed and intelligent electronic devices prototype are developed, and the actual microgrid information exchange based on hierarchical information architecture is tested. Research results verify that the microgrid information architecture established is feasible, and can provide the effective techniques for microgrid device integration, operation analysis and intelligent control. © 2013 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press.
