To obtain the optimal digital valley current (DVC) control technique of switching DC-DC (direct current to direct current) converters, the principle of DVC controlled switching DC-DC converters in a continuous conduction mode was introduced. The control laws for DVC with four modulations, i.e., leading-edge, trailing-edge, leading-triangle and trailing-triangle modulations, were investigated, and their stabilities were analyzed. The time-domain simulation of the DVC controlled switching DC-DC converters was performed. Simulation and experiment results show that a DVC controlled switching DC-DC converter with the trailing-edge modulation instead of the other modulations has an excellent load transient characteristic with a voltage overshoot of 62 mV and a response time of 1.118 ms.
