摘要
Various approaches towards sustainability are being tested at Hitachi Powdered Metals Co., Ltd. (HPM). Three approaches to environmental management identified by the company include cost reduction through equipment updates, discarding reduction activities through efficiency and quality improvement, and cost reduction via waste control. RPM has established a resale procedure to sell pure waste oil with no water contamination in the second half of 2008, and as such waste-oil-process were reduced by 4% in FY2009 and 285 mt of waste oil was sold. To reduce the volume and disposal costs of waste used for transferring products, the company operators separated waste materials and shared awareness of the volume and cost reduction of that waste. Total-waste reduction at HPM's Matsudo plant indicated cost reduction from plastic disposal, waste-oil sales, and oil condenser and oil disposal.
