摘要
Gender bias exists not only throughout society but also in inventing. In this study, we identify the gender of 15,752,108 inventor in USPTO to analyze gender bias in invent. There are 3,525,055 invent teams led by male inventors (who are named first on the patent), and 435,341 invent teams led by female inventors. Even through the invent teams led by male are more than those of female, gender bias is also in the invent teams led by female. Specifically, the proportion of the joint inventor of female (20.4%) is 8.4% higher than that of male (12.0%) in the invent teams led by female. Moreover, the actual proportion of the joint inventor of female (20.4%) is 7.5% higher than that of expected (12.9%). Besides, the average number of joint female inventors are 0.24 more than that of joint male inventors in the female-led invent teams.
