摘要
This poster presents preliminary findings of a study which examines users' needs and requirements for bibliographic enhancement data (B.E.D.) in academic library catalogs. Qualitative data were collected through eight participants' activity logs and follow-up interviews. This study identified 17 types of B.E.D. useful for supporting the user tasks defined in the Library Reference Model and in six other contexts, such as enhancing users' reading interpretation. Participants reported nine quality criteria important for B.E.D. Findings suggest that adoption of BIBFRAME and Semantic Web technologies may enable academic library catalogs to provide B.E.D. to support users in various contexts. 83rd Annual Meeting of the Association for Information Science & Technology October 25-29, 2020.
