The intermittence of renewable energy sources (RES) introduces great challenge of intermittent energy consumption when active distribution network (ADN) integrates plenty of RES. ADN highlights great compatibility with distributed energy resources (DERs), especially renewable ones, by active management and coordination control. This paper proposed a hierarchical energy management and coordination control system for ADN. The global optimization technology and local area control mode were studied based on the fusion of information model and the division of control zoning. By being analyzed the application scenarios of each control mode, the conditions of activating the global optimization were put forward to realize the active switching of control modes. Finally, the demonstration application is simulated to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2014 Chin. Soc. for Elec. Eng.
