The implementation of megawatt charging brings many challenges especially in the transition phase while coexisting with the CCS standard in one vehicle system. While CCS was created without considering heavy commercial vehicle applications, the new MCS standard brings the opportunity to consider the requirements of this segment in the form of performance class but also safety aspects. The coexistence raises questions as to which framework conditions must now be met. Fortunately, the degree of overlap between the two technologies is very high, but there are significant differences in some essential aspects such as high-voltage safety, which make the use of CCS in heavy commercial vehicles more difficult. In today's presentation I would like to go into these differences and their solution approaches as well as the challenges of thermal integration of such high output power. © 2023 The Authors.
