Ocean Tomo, a leading independent merchant banc focusing on intellectual property assets, is organizing the world's first, live multi-lot technology patent auction, patent Lot 13 that pertains to Solid Film Lubricants, at The Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco on April 16, 2006. The 36 issued issued patents fro sale in the auction are originally developed by Ford Motor Company and denote the National Institute for Strategic technology Acquisition and Commercialization (NISTAC), a non-profit organization affliated with Kansas State University. The patent discloses various lubrication techniques for internal combustion engine and drivetrains developed for oil-less engines and for the limiting factors of low lubrication and high friction. The potential buyers of the patent auction include aircraft and agricultural equipment manufacturers, orthopedics, and health care equipment manufacturers.
