4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole was prepared by amination and cyclization with ethyl formate and hydrazine hydrate. 4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole copper perchlorate(ATCP)was prepared by complexation reaction of 4-amino-1, 2, 4-triazole and copper perchlorate in ethanol, and was characterized by elementary analysis, X-ray fluorescence diffraction and FTIR spectra. The thermal decomposition properties of ATCP were investigated by means of TG/DTG and DSC techniques. The thermal decomposition process of ATCP was obtained, and the results show that the decomposition product was CuO. The sample of composite modified double base(CMDB)propellants containing ATCP were prepared by casting technology, and the effects of ATCP on combustion properties of CMDB propellants were investigated. The results show that ATCP is an excellent catalyst, and it possesses good catalytic effect on combustion of RDX-CMDB propellant.
