Alissa N. Antle, School of Interactive Arts and Technology, Simon Fraser University stated that effective expression or embodied cognition played a key role in interaction between a child and a computer. She stated that researchers used embodied cognition to analyze interaction of users with existing products and systems. It emphasized the way specific human bodies, acting in complex physical, social, and cultural environments determined perceptual and cognitive structures, processes, and operations. Embodied cognition played a key role in child-computer interaction and helped in understanding the role of action and the environment in the development of their thinking skills. She stated that designers of digital media for children got significant benefit from understanding and supporting the ways in which physical action influenced cognitive development.
