Coupling filling and cooling analysis for injection molding

摘要
This paper analysed the limitations of the conventional simulating method and presented a coupling scheme to determine the boundary conditions of thermal problems for mold and melt. The finite element method was employed to solve the mold thermal problem while the finite difference method was used to solve the melt thermal problem. The temperature at the interface between mold and melt was updated with the two solutions by over relax method. Repeating this process until the temperature was convergent. After ejection, the mold temperatures, inheriting from the last cycle, were saved and used as the initial and boundary conditions for next cycle simulation. The coupling method can simulate the transient, multi-cycle and more complicated thermal problems.
