Aggregation-induced emission(AIE) has become a hot research topic in materials and chemistry sciences. Compared with the prosperous research on low-mass luminogens with AIE characteristics(AIEgens), the AIE polymers, featuring the advantages of excellent film-forming ability, synergistic effect and multifunctionalizaiton, etc., are less developed. In this paper, the advantages of AIE polymers over low-mass AIEgens will be discussed based on their properties and applications, and the perspective on their future development direction will also be briefly presented. © 2020, Science Press.
