An unbiased and efficient measurement method for dynamic noise floor testing of MHD angular vibration sensors

Currently, there is no unified method for testing the dynamic noise floor of magneto-hydro-dynamic (MHD) angular vibration sensors, which makes it difficult to conduct effective testing. Firstly, to address the issue of unclear systematic errors in the two-channel and three-channel methods, the systematic errors of these two methods are derived, and the application conditions are pointed out. Then, aiming at the issues of systematic errors in the two-channel method and the complex system structure in the three-channel method, a unbiased and efficient dynamic noise floor measurement method based on least squares is proposed, and it is proved that the proposed method has no systematic error. Finally, the effects of the three methods are compared through experiments. The experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately separate the dynamic noise floor in both the time and frequency domains. Compared to the two-channel and three-channel methods, the proposed method has the smallest average relative errors, which are 7.2% and 3.7%, respectively. The proposed method requires fewer resources, has simple structure and is easy to implement, which meets the need for testing the dynamic noise floor of MHD angular vibration sensors. © 2024 Editorial Department of Journal of Chinese Inertial Technology.
