This chapter describes the principles of numerical Monte Carlo (MC) simulation of charged particle beams and discusses various techniques to improve the performance of the MC-program and extend its applicability to high-density beams. This chapter describes the technique of fast MC simulation using analytical ray tracing as a high-speed alternative for standard third-order numerical ray tracing. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
