Anticorrosive paints were prepared by mixing graphene doped epoxy resin (E42) with cardanol modified phenalkamine as curing agent and then were coated on the pretreated substrate tinplate. The surface morphology, curing time, gloss, adhesion, impact resistance, hardness, flexibility and corrosion resistance of the prepared anticorrosive coatings were tested. The results showed that the coatings prepared by cardanol modified phenalkamine achieved excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. With the increase of graphene content (on the basis of the mass of E42, the same below), the anticorrosion resistance of the coating improved. When the contents of cardanol modified phenalkamine and graphene were 25% and 6%, the average thickness of the prepared coating was (120±10) µm, the hardness could reach 2H, the adhesion could reach grade 0, the self-corrosive current density was 8.482×10-6 A/cm2, the corrosion rate was 6.593×10-2 mm/a. © 2021, Editorial Office of FINE CHEMICALS.
