Fabrication of hierarchical ZnCo2O4 nanosheets/oxidized Mo3C2 MXene for a high-performance supercapacitor

In this work, hierarchical structured materials composed of ZnCo2O4 nanosheets and MXene (Mo3C2) are successfully synthesized on a substrate using a simple solvothermal process. The Mo3C2/MoO3 heterostructure is generated through the rapid oxidation of Mo3C2 at moderate temperatures. The ZnCo2O4/Mo3C2/MoO3 electrode demonstrates remarkable specific capacitance and cycling stability, which can be ascribed to the rational design of the structure that promotes ion transport. In addition, the asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) device exhibits excellent energy density of 44.6 Wh kg- 1 at a power density of 375 W kg- 1. The exceptional performance indicates that ZnCo2O4/Mo3C2/MoO3 structure is a promising candidate for electrode material in energy storage devices.
