Additive manufacturing of plastics, in particular selective laser sintering (SLS), is on the point of industrial series production. Powder preparation plays a critical role in it. An unsolved problem is the humidification of the powder to reduce electrostatic charging. Clear guidelines are still mis-sing. This research project analyses the moisture behaviour of PA12, looks at moisture absorption and release and their influence on powder properties and the printing process. © 2024, VDI Fachmedien GmBH & Co.
