摘要
In order to determine operation performance of an agitated sieve-plate extraction column, droplet size in the column was studied. The mean droplet size data were obtained by photographic method, and the effects of rotor speed, continuous and dispersed phase flow rates, physical properties and mass transfer of solute on drop size were investigated. The results show that the droplet sizes become smaller with the increase of rotor speed, and increase with the increase of continuous and dispersed phase flow rates. Systems with higher interfacial tension or viscosity forms larger droplets, while systems with higher density difference forms smaller droplets. In addition, the concentration of solute in the column changes with the change of continuous and dispersed phase flow rates, since the existence of organic solute decreases the interfacial tension and therefore the droplet diameter changes. The experimental data were mathematically correlated, and the average deviation between the calculated results and the experimental results was 5.6%, which provides reference for engineering design of related columns. © 2021, Editorial Board of Journal of Chemical Engineering of Chinese Universities".
