摘要
Carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites (CFRTP) have gradually become a new generation of lightweight material after aluminum alloys and high-strength steels due to their superior mechanical properties, low processing cost and recyclability. Domestic and foreign research institutions and materials suppliers have invested lots of money and manpower to conduct related research. Some universities and companies have begun to explore the application of CFRTP to the manufacture and assembly of airframes and vehicle bodies. Ultrasonic welding is one of the most suitable methods for joining thermoplastic materials, and it is also one of the key enabling technologies for the large-scale assembly of CFRTP components. It systematically describes the research progress in CFRTP ultrasonic welding from five aspects:basic process, joint type, numerical simulation, quality monitoring and dissimilar material joining. Future challenges for research on CFRTP ultrasonic welding are summarized, aiming to provide references for large-scale assembly applications of CFRTP components. © 2021 Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
