In order to improve the accuracy of the centralized model of once-through steam generator under SGTR, an improved hybrid model is proposed. The hybrid and centralized steam generator models are established in APROS, and the accuracy of the two models is compared and verified by the LOCA test data. Then the hybrid model is applied to a power system to study the dynamic characteristics in the system after the tube rupture in different positions and sizes. It is showed in the result that the hybrid model reduced the calculation errors of primary pressure and leakage flow rate from 13.7% and 35.8% to 1.2% and 3% respectively. In the power system, when the tube rupture, the steam temperature and dryness at the secondary side outlet is decreased, and the pressure is increased, meanwhile the power and speed of the steam turbine is increased. When the rupture occurs at the inlet of the steam generator, there is a slight change for the parameters at the outlet; when the rupture occurred at the outlet of the secondary side of the generator, the opposite is true. The improved model and simulation results will be a reference for the design and operation of the once -through steam generator. © 2022 Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
