6-D force measurement of piezoelectric pole balance

Wind tunnel force balance is an important equipment for aircraft aerodynamic study. Here, aiming at limited inner cavity space and high dynamic measurement of aircraft models in some wind tunnel experiments, a piezoelectric multi-dimensional force measurement method based on single crystal surface being divided into multi-region for measurement was proposed. Induced charge density distribution on the quartz chip was calculated under 6-D force, according this the chip area was divided to obtain the 6-D force decoupled formula. The software COMSOL was used to exert force/torque on the piezoelectric chip, simulate the distribution of induced charges on the chip, and verify the correctness of the theoretical model. A piezoelectric pole balance and its calibration device were developed, static and dynamic calibration experiments were conducted for the piezoelectric pole balance. It was shown that the nonlinear error of the balance does not exceed 1. 31%, the repeatability error does not exceed 1. 00%, and the balance’ s natural frequency is higher than 2 700 Hz to verify the feasibility of using piezoelectric crystal chip partitioned region to measure high-frequency 6-D dynamic force in the balance’ s limited installation space. © 2024 Chinese Vibration Engineering Society.
