:
A relatively simple method with an increased accuracy is suggested to calculate the temperature fields of a nonequilibrium emitting plasma near the channel axis of a high-frequency induction (HFI) plasmatron. The method is based on solving the problem of Joule heating of the HF discharge of finite length near the plasmoid axis and on the generalization of the Eckert solution for the central region of the plasmoid. The formulas obtained adequately describe the distribution of the temperature fields near the plasmoid axis and can be used in solving a wide class of nonequilibrium heat transfer problems of low-temperature plasma physics and technology. © 2002 Begell House, Inc.
