The application of Euler deconvolution to the first vertical derivative of the potential field data leads to clearly improved results over its direct application to the field itself, providing that problems with noise can be controlled. This is achieved by calculating the second horizontal derivatives of the data in the space domain and using Laplace's equation to obtain the second vertical derivative.
