摘要：

Preliminary results on characterisation of optical waveguides fabricated in Er-doped phosphate glasses by ion-exchange are presented. Planar waveguides with low losses are easy to be fabricated in Er-doped phosphate glasses containing a suitable percentage of sodium oxide, and the ion-exchange process did not affect the spectroscopic properties of the glasses.
