Textile waste is generated in a variety of ways, from fiber producers to end-users. Because the majority of the valuable fiber products are lost after use, textiles contribute a large amount to the waste stream. These valuable but abandoned fabrics may be recycled to make a variety of products, including thermal and acoustic insulation. This paper discusses the use of recycled synthetic polymeric fibers in thermal and acoustic insulation applications. © 2022 Deutscher Fachverlag GmbH. All rights reserved.
