China continues to rely on coal about 70 percent of its energy. So, it is important to keep the safety production of coal to avoid the water and sand inrush, which caused by the loss of property and personal safety. In this paper, we firstly discussed the significance of water and sand inrush from the view of seepage instability; and the status of water and sand inrush, seepage in fracture, seepage instability are discussed, respectively. The important research field of seepage in the fractured rocks is pointed out. © 2015 ejge.
