Performance of DOA estimation for correlated sources by forward-backward spatial smoothing

A practical realization of forward-backward spatial smoothing algorithm is proposed. The relationship between the number of sub-arrays and the de-correlating performance of spatial smoothing algorithm is analyzed quantitatively in the case of stat sense. Academic analysis indicates that the correlation coefficient is reduced and the independence among uncorrelated signal sources is reserved after adoption of the algorithm. At the end, simulated results about the mutual relation between the number of sub-arrays and the distinguishing probability under different signal to noise ratio (SNR) on the premise of fixed total array elements are given, and the efficiency of the algorithm is tested.
