Operation of heat-treating furnace in shop for manufacturing the sheets from carbon, low-alloy, and corrosion-resistant steels has been considered. Productivity of the furnace is 10 tonnes per hour. Mixture of coke oven and blast furnace gases is burnt in the furnace. The furnace is characterized by many disadvantages. In connection with this, modernization of the furnace has been performed. Variation of gas nozzle diameter has been provided. Thermal insulation has been improved. The most efficient measure has been installation of ceramic partitions in fume system. Gas dynamics has been improved in this case and heat utilization is also improved.
