摘要：
The evolution of vowel production and studies and observation techniques of speech production was reviewed. The techniques to observe the inside of the body developed from primitive instruments to sophisticated systems, were presented. It was found that with historical changes of the methods, speech production studies advanced from the analysis of crystallized sounds of the vowel to the complex phenomena of the spoken language with time-varying patterns.
