Use of engineering resources available to select printed circuit board (PCB) dimensions is discussed that maximize the usable space on the fabricator's production panel. Components are placed on design to minimize pick-and-place machine movements. Design's requirement should be communicated accurately and without redundancy. Excessively stringent tolerance requirements should be guarded as it may drive yields down and costs up.
