摘要：

The application research of Wavelet-based image compression is becoming mature as the wavelet theory research proceeds in last decades. Under this background, the wavelet-based video compression research has drawn much attention in this field. Based on summarizing the wavelet-based image compression techniques for the last decades, this paper describes the advances of wavelet-based video compression in details, and then discusses several hot problems as well as their development in future.
