Investigation Into Roll Thrust Bearing Damage and Modeling of Roll Thrust Forces for the 4-High Reversing Rougher of a Hot Strip Mill

摘要：
A new model to calculate the thrust force between the work roll and the backup roll under roll crossing is derived based on the principles of tractive rolling of elastic cylinders in contact mechanics. Another new model to calculate the thrust force between work rolls and the slab is derived, considering the lateral metal flow of the slab. Simplified formulae of these two models are derived for easy application.
