Field-induced behaviors near the smectic-A-smectic-Cα* phase transition of an antiferroelectric liquid crystal

摘要
The electric field effects on an antiferroelectric liquid crystal at the phase transition was investigated. The microscopic observations were made for the measurements of the D-E hysteresis loop and apparent tilt angle. The tricritical point was found using phase diagrams. A soft mode inducing transition was observed from dielectric measurements. It was observed that the relaxation frequency depended upon the temperature.
