摘要
The elastic half-space assumption is violated when the wheel flange contacts with a rail gauge corner. In this case, the results by CONTACT will produce large errors. The paper modified the normal undeformed distance, rigid slip creepages and influence coefficient of CONTACT in order to consider the wheel-rail curved contact patch. In the case of S1002CN wheel tread and CHN60 rail profile, the curved contact algorithm and CONTACT were used to calculate the contact patcharea and contact stress of the wheel and rail. The results were compared and analyzed. The results show that there is little difference between the contact area and the contact stress of the two methods when the wheel tread contacts the rail top or the wheel flange is in convex touch with a rail gauge corner. However, the difference is significant when the wheel flange contacts the rail gauge corner. In the case of the wheelset lateral displacement of 7.77 mm, the wheel-rail contact area calculated by the CONTACT planar method is about 9.5% lower than curved one, and the maximal normal and tangential stress are about 34% higher than those calculated by curved method. The curved contact method is more applicable to the calculation of the wheel-rail conformal contact stress than the planar method, which can be used for the analysis of wheel-rail wear and rolling contact fatigue. © 2021, Department of Journal of the China Railway Society.
