Simple method for excitation of a Bose-Einstein condensate

摘要
A method to create collective excitations in a cold-atom Bose-Einstein condensate was proposed. The method was based on time-dependent modification of the trapping potential. The method allowed for the creation of dark solitons and vortices. One dimensional time-independent Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GPE) for the harmonic potential in the presence of laser beams was solved. It was observed that there was the presence of loop-like structures in the obtained energy levels for interacting particles.
