Special features of the process of resistance flash welding of ring-shaped components made of large-section pressed aluminium profiles are investigated. The effect of different parameters on the process of plastic deformation of metal during upsetting is studied. Recommendations are given for decreasing the number of defects in welded joints and increasing the wear resistance of the tooling. © 2016 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
