Resource and ecological evaluation of methods of steelmaking

Various methods of steelmaking have been considered. Influence of these methods on environment has been discussed. It has been shown that proper selection of new developed methods of steelmaking should be performed in order to improve situation in environmental protection and to save resources. Consumption of energy for mining the resources, their processing, steelmaking, and waste utilization should be taken into account. Methods of steelmaking with the use of open-hearth furnaces, basic oxygen converters, electric arc furnaces in steelmaking have been considered. Ecological evaluations of these methods have been given.
