摘要
For ten years since 1990, the Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth (RITE) has conducted a chemical CO2 fixation project. The aim of this project was to develop processes for synthesizing useful chemical substances such as methanol by reacting hydrogen with CO2. The hydrogen was manufactured using clean, natural energy and the CO2 was recovered from exhaust gases from stationary CO2 emission sources using polymer membranes to continuously separate and concentrate the CO2. As one of the cooperative companies, Sumitomo Electric sent researchers to RITE and participated in the development of the CO2 separation membranes. As the project ended in March 2000, this report discusses the results of the CO2 separation membrane development conducted at RITE. The project developed a new cardo-type polymer membrane with high CO2 permeability and achieved a hollow-fiber membrane module featuring the highest performance in the world. In addition to using bench-scale testing and actual exhaust gas testing to obtain basic data for implementing the module, we conducted a trial design for a practical plant that should process exhaust gas emissions from a 1,000-megawatt coal-fired power station. The information obtained has confirmed that in energy terms the developed membrane separation method is superior to existing methods.
