Research on matching design method of LSVD in centrifugal compressor

Low solidity vaned diffuser is widely used for high efficiency and wide range centrifugal compressor. Considering the equivalent divergent angle and solidity, this paper proposed a design method of low solidity vaned diffuser, including performance prediction based on Two-Zone model. A matching design was made for the impeller of a centrifugal compressor with high flow coefficient in Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES). The results showed that the prediction method developed through this study can serve as a tool for preliminary design and assist the established design method to realize the diffuser matching design; centrifugal compressor had a better performance when the inlet incidence was -3°~-2°. © 2016, Science Press.
