Claw pole machine with outer PM rotor (PMCPM) is a new structural machine occurring in the recent few years with good application perspective in energy-saving, speed-regulating and electrical system of auto. On the basis of analyzing structure, characteristics and operating mechanism, complex main magnetic flux and leakage magnetic flux of PMCPM are analyzed in detail. Simplified equivalent magnetic circuit model is built, and then formula of reluctances of this model and reactance parameters of electric machine are deduced according to structural chrematistics of PMCPM, and formula of back electromotive force of machine is derived by means of this model. In order to verify the equivalent magnetic circuit model, the prototype of PMCPM is designed and manufactured, Correctness and feasibility of theory work are verified through the comparison of experiment result and calculation values, and foundation is laid on further research on this kind of novel structural machine.
