摘要
NaOH treatment was used for polyimide fibers and the impact of alkali treatment on fineness, mechanical properties, thermogravimetric properties, chemical structure, surface morphology and microscopic state of aggregation structure of fibers was analyzed. The results indicate that the fiber fineness and mechanical properties degrade after alkali treatment, moreover, with increase of the alkali concentration and temperature, prolonging of the processing time, the fineness and mechanical properties of fibers decline more quickly. OH- makes imide ring of fiber open and hydrolyze for polyamide acid or its salt, and parts of the polymer molecular chain are broken. As a result, thermogravimetric properties, chemical structure and microscopic state of aggregation structure of fibers change, the surface of fiber becomes uneven, the roughness increases and etching appears. Thus it can be concluded that NaOH treatment method is feasible for modifying surface of polyimide fibers. © 2017, Editorial Board of Polymer Materials Science & Engineering. All right reserved.
