Open call [editor's note]

Xuemin (Sherman) Shen informs about the inclusion of open call articles in the IEEE Network January/February 2015 issue. The first article is entitled 'A Learning-Based Resource Allocation Approach for P2P Streaming Systems' is written by Thibaud Rohmer and others. This paper focuses on the problem of maximizing the P2P streaming system capacity by effectively alternating between different resource allocation strategies, which are guided by a runtime statistical analysis of performance against a predicted content popularity pattern. The second article, entitled 'Vehicle as a Resource (VaaR)' and written by Sherin Abdel Hamid and others, introduces the concept of vehicle as a resource (VaaR) and sheds light on the services a vehicle can potentially provide on the road or when parked.
