摘要
This paper proposes an incremental formulation for rate-independent rigid plasticity at finite strains. A family of objective approximation of the rate of deformation tensor is developed, based on which the stress response is expressed as functions of relative strain tensors. The resulting stress response is incrementally elastic and properly invariant under superposed rigid body motions. In addition, the constitutive equations can be readily implemented into the standard strain-driven finite element framework. The methodology is also extended to the construction of approximate elastic-plastic constitutive equations. For both cases, the resulting stress response satisfies the yield condition by construction, and therefore the local return mapping is completely bypassed. The performance of the formulations is illustrated by selected numerical examples. © 2002 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
