The dynamic measurement of particle emissions from combustion engines by an electrical diffusion battery is performed. Diffusion batteries (DB) classify the particles according to their mobility. The measurement of input and output concentration measures the penetration of the DB. There is another type of diffusion battery which directly measures the particles precipitated in the different stages of DB, and thus provides the size spectrum. A backup filter is also provided to collect the particles penetrating all stages of the DB. It is also possible to charge the particles by ultra-violet photoemission.
