Time synchronization has a crucial influence on the wireless sensor networks, which is one of the most important support technologies. The main defects in TPSN algorithm are the disabled root nodes and the time synchronization accuracy reduced with the increasing hops. A low-power cluster-based time synchronization algorithm is proposed, which solves the defect on the disabled root nodes by periodically selecting cluster head nodes mixed with the residual energy factor. One-way broadcasting and two-way paired technologies are used in the time synchronization. The experimental simulation results show, that the algorithm improved the time synchronization accuracy, reduced the nodes energy consumption and extended networks life. © 2014 by Binary Information Press
