摘要
To investigate the effect of viscous dampers on the seismic response of rocking double-column bents, the case study, parametric analysis and overturning analysis were performed on the rocking double-column bents with viscous dampers based on the assumption of rigid bodies and the Lagrange equation. It can be concluded that the viscous dampers can decrease the displacement response of rocking double-column bents under earthquakes. Moreover, as a damper based on velocity, the benefit on the near-field ground motions with pulses is more significant than that on the far-field ground motions. The increase of the dimensionless damping (λ) and the decrease of the damping exponent (nv) can reduce displacement response of rocking double-column bents subjected to the near-field ground motions with pulses. However, the peak displacement response of rocking bents has no significant change when the failure displacement of dampers is greater than 120 mm.The viscous dampers can improve the overturning resistant capacity of rocking double-column bents subjected to the near-field ground motions with pulses, and the overturning resistant capacity increases with the increase of λ and the decrease of nv. © 2020, Editorial Office of China Civil Engineering Journal.
